Play It Like Ace

Here's what I've been listening to this week:
  • Kate Voegele - I Won't Disagree
  • Kate Voegele - One Way or Another
  • Kate Voegele - It's Only Life
  • Kate Voegele - No Good
  • Samantha Tobey - Eleven Shades of Red
  • Cameron Cooke - Unbreakable Heart
As you can see I'm a big fan of Kate Voegele. She is currently playing Mia on One Tree Hill. Her debut album Don't Look Away is fantastic so be sure to check it out. As for Samantha Tobey, her song was featured on Quarterlife. If you've seen the show, Eleven Shades of Red is the song Lisa sings in the bar in the first episode. Cameron Cooke is a singer who contacted me this week on MySpace. He's really good and does one of the best covers of Umbrella that I've heard in a long time.

Leap Day Fun!

So Leap Day won't come around for another 4 years so I thought I'd share this little fact with all my female readers. According to many a source (i.e. professors and Google), women can ask men to do whatever they want on February 29 and get this, the men have to do it! Wives can ask their husbands to wash the dishes and they must get to washing. Women can propose and the man must say yes. (Does anyone have Justin Timberlake's number?) And if you ask him to join you in Europe's latest dance craze, he must accept.

'Quarterlife' Update!

On Tuesday night, Quarterlife made its TV debut on NBC. This Sunday the hit web series will move to its regularly scheduled time on the network at 9pm. Be sure to watch!

Happy Leap Day!

Every four years we celebrate leap day. Ever wonder why? Well, according to something I heard on Ellen earlier, it takes the earth 365.25 days to revolve around the sun. Every four years that .25 adds up to 1 and we have a leap year.

Singer Spotlight: Justin Thompson

Move over Justin Timberlake, there's another JT in town.

Now in New York by way of Nashville, Thompson has blended elements of jazz, swing and pop to create a sound all his own. His MySpace profile says his influences include Rufus Wainwright, Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong. With two acclaimed albums under his belt, Thompson is sure to become a legend in his own right. If you haven't heard his cover of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit stop reading this and head over to his MySpace profile now.

After graduating from the Berklee College of Music, Thompson received accolades for his debut album, Tasty Pudding. It was even named one of the best albums of the year by the Nashville Rage. In 2006 Thompson released his second album, Brand New Same Old Obsessions.

To buy JT's albums head over to iTunes and CD Baby. Also be sure to check out his official website: iamjustinthompson.com

Silverman v Kimmel 2008

A couple of weeks ago Sarah Silverman created one of the best viral vids I've seen in a long time ... if you haven't heard that she's fucking Matt Damon, where have you been? Now Jimmy Kimmel has created his retaliation vid with none other than Matt Damon's best friend Ben Affleck.

I'm Fucking Matt Damon

I'm Fucking Ben Affleck

Need More 'Quarterlife' in Your Life?

Well you're in luck. For the first time ever a show moves from the net to the network ... and yes I took that line right out of an NBC commercial. Quarterlife premieres tonight on NBC at 10pm so watch and find out what all the fuss is about!

JMac on JDate ???

Are you a 30 year old divorcée who smokes regularly and has a Ph.D? I think I may have found the man for you!

About 2 weeks ago a new song from Jesse McCartney entitled Leaving surfaced online. That wasn't the only thing to surface. It seems that single Jesse has turned to JDate to find that special someone. In case you were wondering he's not suddenly Jewish. Jesse says, "One of my best buddies is a conservative Jew and his sister had met her boyfriend on JDate." His friend told him that there are " ... different people of all religious backgrounds on that site" so he gave it a try.

If you're interested just look for "jbagel07" (*clever*) ... here's a little snippet of what you'll find on his profile:

I am 20 years old. I love life, love what i do, love my fam, friends and want to meet someone who is willing to share all of that with me. I feel like i've learned so much by traveling around the world and meeting every person imaginable. I would consider myself very worldly because of it. Music is my biggest passion and i have been fortunate enough to make it my profession. I'm currently working on my third album and have just finished up some film projects. For what it's worth, i might as well tell you that i have a pretty simple outlook; being independent can be the most valuable thing you ever posses. Once you have that, and you know who you are, you can then find that person to share your time with. I work hard and i play hard. I'm pretty spontaneous, love fine-dining and enjoy the REAL simple things in life. I pride myself in turning most situations into a funny joke and I find myself eager to make a woman laugh!!

Here is the portion of his profile that is titled Relationships:

My perfect first date: whatever you wanna do- crazy or low key...I'm down for whatever

My ideal relationship: bonnie and clyde

My past relationships: does she love her mom?

Age Range: 20 to 30

Relationship Status: Single, Divorced, Separated

Religious Background: Unaffiliated

Education Level: Some College, Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, JD/Ph.D/Postdoctoral

Drinking Habits: Socially

Smoking Habits: Non-Smoker, Occasionally, Regularly

And lastly, here are a few profile pics:

Does anyone know what he meant by "does she love her mom?" in the Past relationships section?? Do you think he's referring to his ex, David Cassidy's daughter Katie?

B-Boy Beckham Busts a Move!

On Monday night the Spice Girls tour rolled into Madison Square Garden. One of the highlights of the night was when the girls brought their children onstage as they sang Mama. And wouldn't you know it ... Posh's youngest, Cruz, stole the show when he broke it down with a breakdance.

A definite must see!

No Heart for Hart

The rumors are finally true ... P!nk and her motorcross racer husband, Carey Hart, have split after two years.

Now That's What I Call an Ad!

Matthew McConaughey is in the new ad for Dolce & Gabbana's fragrance The One ... and if you must know, he's not wearing a shirt in the end.

'All Eyes' on Celine

On Friday night Celine Dion did a special on CBS. She performed with some help from Josh Groban and will.i.am, dedicated songs to Jennifer Love Hewitt, and answered questions from Corbin Bleu and David Foster. A fun time was had by all, including myself.

Of all the performances, my favorite was her live remix of Eyes on Me with will.i.am. Check it out below!

TV Time: Knight Rider & Dexter

It's all over TV and MySpace ... Knight Rider is back!

The original show's before my time, but I always hear older people referencing it. Unfortunately I won't be watching tonight (9pm on NBC) as I have to watch part 2 of Pride and Prejudice on PBS for my English class ... :-( ... but that doesn't mean you shouldn't (unless you're in my English class).

If fast, talking Mustangs aren't your thing, CBS is airing Dexter starting tonight at 9pm. I've never seen the show. All I know is that there's some doctor guy and who kills criminals. Yay vigilantes - ??

I ♥ Degrassi Reruns

For the past couple months I've been obsessed with CW's airings of Degrassi: The Next Generation reruns. At first I didn't like the show, but I started warming up to it as the episodes got better as they got older. Now Sunday isn't Sunday if I don't see the Degrassi crew.

If you haven't seen it yet, the show's a bit like 7th Heaven without being too preachy. The 7th Heaven kids started sounding like they were reading from college textbooks by the 6th season and the storylines were too dragged out. This is so not the case with Degrassi. Almost every character has something wrong with them, but that's life.

Anyway, I'll get back to my Mass Comm case brief on NY Times v Sullivan. (If you're a publicist could you tell me if Media Law & Ethics is really necessary for PR - ??)

'Gossip' Boys - Out?

Can someone tell me who booked the boys of Gossip Girl for the cover of Out magazine. As a publicist-in-training, I can tell you this isn't going to help those Chace Crawford gay rumors any. Perez is going to have a field day with this! Was GQ or Details not available?

Oh well, a cover's a cover. Congrats boys! You look smashing!

Overheard in Gaelville

It seems that everywhere I go I overhear the funniest things. Here are the best quotes this week.

"I'm famous, Google me."
- Professor #1

"I'm freaking brilliant."
- Professor #2

"When I go to the gym I feel so great. I'm just 'Look at me.'"
- Random girl who procedes to pose post-quote

"I watch Degrassi to feel better about myself."
- Girl in bathroom stall #1 to girl in bathroom stall #2

Mayer and the Case of the Mankini

Recently while aboard the Mayercraft Carrier, John Mayer felt the need to strip down to a mankini Borat-style. Only he has the balls for that!

source: trent.blogspot.com

Now I don't know what I find more disturbing ... Mayer jogging while wearing the mankini or Mayer reading US Weekly with Miley Cyrus on the cover while wearing a mankini.

???????

Mayer does love his Hannah Montana.

Controversy Commentary - DL Edition

I got an email from Blogger saying that someone commented on Ace Ave. I was excited until I saw the comment.

Someone who goes by "What the are you talking about" wrote, "Everyone who knows anything about "hollywood" and the "entertainment industry" knows that everything David Lehre does is complete and total unfunny garbage. Its almost disrespectful to people who are actually working for real. Good luck."

I wasn't taking this lightly so I wrote back, "First of all you spelled "It's" wrong ... and second ... if you're doing something that you think is better than DL's, post a link and I'll check it out and compare.

Have a nice day.

- Ace
"

Don't mess with Dave Lehre fans!

Now can anyone tell me why they wrote "Good luck." at the end of their message? Were they talking to me, DL, or "people who are actually working for real."

Ace
