My Favorite Birthday Boy

I couldn't let the clock strike midnight marking the beginning of February without mentioning that today is Justin Timberlake's 27th birthday. He first entered our lives as that cute kid in the Mickey Mouse Club back in the early 90s. He returned to the spotlight in one of the most successful boy bands of my time, NSYNC, before finally striking out on his own with one of the most successful careers next to another former boy bander, Michael Jackson. Now Mr. JT has gone franchise with acting roles, a bookbag company, a clothing line, multiple restaurants, and his own record label. He's done more in 27 years than most people do in their entire lives. I can't wait to see what he does in the next 27 years to come and beyond. Here's to you Mr. JT. Cheers!

Forever Young And Always Cool, Heath Ledger Dies At The Age Of 28

I was going through some school books with my mom when news broke that Heath Ledger was found dead in his SOHO apartment at the tender age of 28. Mom and I were in shock. We just saw him in Casanova a few weeks ago.

Ledger will be most remebered for his role as a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain for which he received an Oscar nomination. It was on this set that he met former girlfriend, Dawson's Creek alum, Michelle Williams. Together the two have a daughter Matilda Rose, now 2.

Ledger not only leaves behind his family and friends, but a world full of fans who were waiting to see what would come next for him. I know they will be lined up around the block this summer to see him as The Joker in the Batman sequel The Dark Knight.

Ledger will be greatly missed. I leave you with this Ben Harper video for Morning Yearning that was directed by Ledger. Enjoy.

Would This Inspire You?

So you're flipping through the paper and you come across this ad:

What do you think it's for?
(a) Plastic Surgery
(b) A Gym
(c) Swimwear
(d) Shoes

And the Jeopardy music continues ...

If you answered (b) you'd be correct. Kudos to you.

Equinox Fitness Club is releasing a series of ads by legendary fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth to promote its "Happily Ever After" theme.

Would these ads get you in the gym more?

Lady About Town

This statement is so true, especially when you live in New Ro. We have no stores here except Modells, Madrag, Annie Sez, and Payless. What gives? I would love an H&M in my town. I have to go to the city to get everything. I went to H&M today and got an awesome blue shift dress, gray slacks, and a gray/yellow/gold plaid blouse for less than the price of one pair of the DKNY jeans I picked up in Macy's minutes before. Speaking of Macy's I went to the Junior's department and there was this really long line there. I thought it was for the fitting rooms until I saw that the people were mostly girls with no clothes slung over their arms. Some Macy's employees said that there was supposed to be some celebrity signing today with people from One Tree Hill. That sounded about right to me as a sign I read said that with a $35 purchase from the Juniors department you get a free Clothes Over Bros handbag. I didn't get anything from that department, but I think the celeb might have been Sophia Bush since Clothes/Bros is her character's clothing line. Makes sense to me.

Fashion week kicks off on February 1st in Bryant Park. Mom and I walked through it on our way from Macy's to H&M and we saw them setting up for the upcoming week. They were laying down the runways and I was actually able to walk on them as we made our way through the park. So surreal. So New York.

Best way to top of a shopping trip to New York ... a slice of Junior's Red Velvet cake to regain those calories lost while trekking around the epic city.

Last but not least, the most common souvenir from NY herself ... sore limbs.

Until next time,
Ace

Kids Say The Darnest Things

Saw this in an AP news story.

Eleven-year-old Khryshanna Taylor saw snow for the first time Saturday in Montgomery and was unimpressed.

"I have decided that I don't like snow!" she said as she hurried home after a brief attempt at a snowball fight. "If it snows again, I'm going to move out of the state!"

The Britney Files

When I first started my blog I said Britney Spears wasn't "sexy news" but I do have something Britney-related involving fashion (i.e. sexy) and a certain King of Sex-Pop (again i.e. sexy).

Part I

Britney and her paparazzo boy toy, Adnan Ghalib, went on a little outing recently to look at new cars and look what she was wearing. Look familiar?

Yes, that would be her wedding reception dress. Did she have nothing else to wear? I could have sworn some court documents said she spent about $14,000 on clothes every month so where are they?

Part II

Justin Timberlake was at Hollywood hotspot Villa West and as he was leaving someone yelled, "Help Britney!" and "You're the chosen one!"

Hey, if anyone could do it, JT could.

Baby On Board Update

It looks like reports of Christina Aguilera giving birth last Friday were wrong after all. She had her baby yesterday. If you go on her home page this is what you'll see.

The baby boy's name is Max Liron Bratman. In case you were wondering Max means "the greatest" and Liron is Hebrew for "my song" ... put it all together and you have "the greatest song" ... isn't that cool.

Head over to Christina's website for a special message and a free download of her music video for Save Me From Myself.

Congrats to the new parents!!!

Quarterlife Character Poll

Who's your favorite character? Dylan? Jed? Debra? Danny? Lisa? Andy? Eric? If you tell me yours, I'll tell you mine.

Have You Caught 'Quarterlife' Fever Yet?

If you say no, you probably haven't seen the show yet. If this is your first time hearing about Quarterlife (if so, have you never been on MySpace?), click on the Quarterlife label and watch the previous 2 episodes in full before you do anything else. If you're obsessed with Quarterlife like my friends and myself, here's the 3rd ep. Enjoy!

How Have I Not Seen This?

I was watching the end of the People's Choice Awards the other night and "Shoes" won for best user-generated video. I had no clue what that was until I saw the clip and recognized that guy with the blonde wig. Everytime I search for pictures of shoes on Photobucket and TinyPic I always see pics of him.

Watch Shoes!

Fashion Forward: Get the Look For Less

I was just on NET-A-PORTER.com and I came across these Marni Peep-toe platforms for $741.

I thought to myself, "Where have I seen those before." And then I remembered ... the window of Payless. You can get a similar look (and a cuter/less-harsh one if you ask me) by American Eagle for Payless for a mere $21.99. Think of the savings (and the cuteness). Sure you could spend $741 for the Marnis, but why would you? You could buy over 30 pairs of AE's for that.

And with your major savings thanks to Auntie Ace, you may want to pick up the AE Scout tote I spotted on my last visit. You know you have to have it!

Tell them Ace sent you ... not that I have any cred or anything, but you never know who's reading Ace Ave and works there. ;-)

Happy shopping!

What Is This Supposed To Mean?

Entourage star, Adrien Grenier, was spotted sporting this shirt earlier this week ... is there some sort of meaning behind it? If you know, post comments ... please!

The Babies Are Officially On Board

It seems that today is a good day to give birth. Both Nicole Richie and Christina Aguilera had their babies at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Nicole had a baby girl who weighed in at 6 lbs. 7 oz. She and Joel named her Harlow Winter Kate Madden. Isn't that the coolest name ever!

Christina and husband Jordan Bratman had a baby boy. It is not known at this time what his name is, but I'll be sure to post it when I find out (and you know I will). I do know that Jordan text family and friends to announce the baby's birth ... so 21st century!

Congrats to both sets of parents!

Random Resolution Complete!

Remember when I posted that list of Random Resolutions for '08 last month? Well I've completed one of them. I'm now dating Chris Brown! Okay, so not true, but imagine if some random show or tabloid was patrolling the blogosphere and saw that and tried to track me down and he and I ended up on next week's US Weekly? Totally random, just like Random Resolution #2: Buy high-waisted jeans. I know you may feel like, "Eww, not those 'mom jeans.'" Well they're not 'mom jeans' ... at least mine aren't. They're really chic. I first saw them back in October about a week before Halloween. I tried them on and had flashbacks of Fergie in Big Girls Don't Cry ... all I was missing was the hat, the red shirt, the wavy locks ... and Milo Ventimiglia as my boyfriend ... okay I can't have Milo (I'm sure Hayden P's a scrappy little fighter), but I can jump on a hot trend before it becomes overly trendy.

The ones I have are wide leg like these Roxy Kalani Trouser Jeans I found on Nordstrom.com,

but with a higher buttoned and zippered rise like these Rich and Skinny Lanky Wide Leg Jeans that I also found on Nordstrom.com.

Hmm, which resolution to conquer next? Maybe I'll learn capoeira ... watch out Hayden ... I'm coming for Milo ... except I don't really like him; I like his character from Gilmore Girls better ... remember Jess? ... omg! remember when Jess and Logan almost got into it at that restaurant over Rory! ... those were the days ... I miss Logan and G.G #1 ... but now I have a new G.G. ... Gossip Girl! I was reading my daily WhoWhatWearDaily.com newsletter and Penn Badgley (a.k.a. Dan for those of you who still don't know their real names) was named one of their stylin' guys! Go Penn!

Happy Blogging!

Never Too Old Young To 'Apologize'

I just saw this on Perez Hilton and decided to post it ... the little girl reminds me of myself singing Paula Abdul's Rush Rush when I was around the same age.

Get Caught Up On 'Quarterlife'

I just finished watching part 1 of episode 4 and it was well worth my 7 minutes and 55 seconds. This is pretty much one of the few shows I haven't missed a second of. That's probably because I can watch it online at my convenience and it's not so long so my laptop doesn't overheat and shut off ... most of the time. I posted the first full ep on Tuesday so hopefully you've seen it by now. If not watch it first then enjoy the second episode in its entirety.

Voting Never Looked Better

I came across this on people.com earlier. I love when casts from popular shows come together for a cause and look good doing it. Remember to register: Declare Yourself

Unbelievable!

Mr. Blackwell has come out with his annual Best/Worst Dressed Lists, and (*gasp*) Victoria Beckham topped the Worst Dressed List.

Has the man never seen Britney Spears' bad weave?

He put Beyoncé on the Best Dressed List ... does he not recall the gold lamé Hefty she wore to the VMAs last year?

How can the Posh not top the best dressed list?!? Sure she takes fashion risks, but she always looks brilliant!

Who is this Mr. Blackwell? I want to see his credentials!

Have you seen 'Quarterlife'?

I've been watching Quarterlife on MySpace since the very beginning because Scott Michael Foster from Greek is on it. The show's so good. It's better than most TV shows. I heard NBC picked it up so look for it in the coming months.

If you haven't seen it, here's the pilot. Enjoy!

Birthday Wishes!

Unless you watched Rockstar Supernova last year in '06, you may have no clue who I'm talking about unless you have the P.S. I Love You soundtrack. There's this singer named Ryan Star who was on Rockstar Supernova. If I remember correctly he came in 4th. I've been keeping track of his career since he left the show and today's his birthday, or as he likes to say his new year! He's 30, which isn't surprising because most of the celebs I crush on are pretty much 2 to 10 years older than me or a year younger than me. (Fun times!) If you want to give him a birthday gift, why don't you go buy his album on iTunes or the P.S. I Love You soundtrack.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Ryan from one NY Native to another!

* Aww *

* Doesn't he look excited?!? *

Bon Jovi Does SNL

Jon Bon Jovi hosted SNL back in October and this was my favorite skit. It's called Amy's Bedroom. I can't embed it so click on the picture to watch.

Radcliffe the Rebel

Once again Jynx has come through with another great YouTube find. Watch Daniel Radcliffe (yes that's the guy who plays Harry Potter), on Ricky Gervais' show Extras.

You'll Get a Kick Out of This

My friend Jynx found this on YouTube. Enjoy!

My New Favorite Celeb Chase

Shia sprinting down the street is old news. Watch as Kevin Federline gives new meaning to defensive driving as a paparazzo tries to pass him on the road to take photos of his kids in his bodyguard's car coming home from the hospital after Thursday night's debacle. Go Daddy Go!!!

I Have to See This

After watching this scene, I'm counting down to the March 18th DVD release of Southland Tales.

Yes that's Justin Timberlake ... and if you live in LA or have ever visited (Laur I mean you ;-D ) this was filmed in the Playland Arcade at the Santa Monica Pier.

Dave Lehre + 'Turbo Girls'

If you know me, then you know I'm a fan of Dave Lehre. If you don't who that is, where've you been? Lehre's a major multi-tasker. Not only does he act, but he produces and directs.

Back in May I posted a blog on my old LiveJournal about Lehre's Vendetta Studios. Here's what I wrote:

In the age of YouTube everyone can get their 15 minutes of fame by uploading footage ranging from a dance recital to how to behave in Vegas. Others, like David Lehre of Vendetta Studios, use YouTube to share original material that's better than most TV shows.

David Lehre's claim to fame came with the February 21 upload of myspace: the movie in 2006 which soon became a cult classic. Since then he has created Vendetta Entourage which led him and his friends to win the My Entourage contest on MySpace in 2006. He also does parodies of TV shows and movies, like Punk'd and Casino Royale. He was even in 'Epic Movie' [last] year. Did I mention he's only 22? This Michigan native is well on his way to become the biggest thing to hit Hollywood in years.

Most recently Lehre became the winner of T-Mobile's Sidekick Nation contest. Watch the winning video here: link.

Lehre also has a series called Turbo Girls. It's very Charlie's Angels meets Austin Powers ... just genius. I'm going to post all three episodes below so enjoy!!!

Resolution Completed!

One of my resolutions was to find out the name of the hot blonde surfer dude from TMZ on TV. I'm proud to announce that my problem has been solved. I was watching the show yesterday and they flashed his name across the screen. It's Max!

My mom was like, "that's not a resolution." And I was all, "Yes it is!" I went on to explain, "My problem was that I didn't know his name and now I know his name. Problem resolved." She was like, "All right. You've got a point there." I was like, "I know. I do go to college you know."

TMZ showed this clip yesterday. I think it's going to be my fave celeb chase of the year. Watch Shia LaBeouf run as cameramen run after him. He's going, going, gone ... guess those workouts for Indy 4 did the shy one good.
